“Before Jim Hay began teaching me about Art Quilts, I had studied traditional quilt-making for a long time here in Japan. I first became impressed with quilts from watching an old American TV program “Little House on the Prairie”.
Now I enjoy making machine sewn Art Quilts because they allow me to express my ideas freely and more meaningfully. Going forward, I want to make hybrid Art Quilts that utilize both machine sewing and handwork.
“Swimming in the Wind”
Long, long ago, Japanese women wore tight heavy Kimono and usually stayed in the small world of their houses. Now, they move more actively in a wider world to become who they want to be. They are free to “Swim in the Wind”.
