I have been sewing, drawing, and painting forever. I earned a degree in art and focused on painting and printmaking. It wasn’t until I saw a group of beautiful quilts that it occurred to me that my love of art and of textiles and sewing could be combined. I have never looked back!I am retired from a career in Graphic Design and spend most of my days enjoying family working in my studio and writing for quilting publications and am an avid blogger. I am one of the authors of Twelve by Twelve: The International Art Quilt Challenge. My work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and appears in several books.

My artwork begins as memory—impressions of places I've been, people I have known, the world around me, yesterday's walk, last summer's garden. Memory is imperfect, exaggerating certain things, discarding others altogether. And similarly, while my work may resemble something real, it is reality edited, biased, and colored by time and circumstance. I am always hoping to connect to the part of the memory that held meaning for me, regardless of absolute accuracy.

Several years ago I began using recycled clothing fabric, which seems to come to me with its own memories. It has a depth and richness that I respond to. My background in painting and drawing is fundamental to what I do, but I choose to work with fabric for its familiarity and emotional connection to our human experience.
