Lyrics - friend or foe
When the Lyrically Speaking prompt was announced by Martha Ressler, two things immediately came to mind.
Firstly the issue of using lyrics in artwork. A few years ago I made a quilt for the 'Beneath the Southern Sky' Exhibition curated by Brenda Gael Smith in which I used some lyrics from a classic Australian Song 'I've Been Everywhere'. Realising my error I actually found and contacted the original author who directed me to the record company who owned the lyrics. It was a bit of an exercise and although permission was granted I didn't fancy going through it all again.
So my next flash of inspiration came to me in the form of an 'ear worm'.
I am driven mad by these totally random lines from songs that implant themselves in my brain for no apparent reason and then drive me mad until I suddenly realise they have gone.
So my piece for this prompt is inspired by the 'ear worm'
