Sleep Eludes Me
I spend a lot of the night staring at my digital clock so I created a Thermofax screen with the times that I see ranging from midnight through to dawn.
I painted fabric with a rough gradation of black to a silvery white, printed the times and then cut it all up into strips.
When it was pieced, it started to look like a city and that was a pleasant accident as I do spend quite a lot of time staring out hotel windows at night when I can't sleep.
This is what a regular sleep pattern looks like
and this is what my sleep pattern looks like. Lots of fully awake periods.
So I replicated the patterns with hand dyed silk organza and overlaid using Mistyfuse them onto my collage. I like to use Mistyfuse as is so soft and the result is transparent.
Then I had a wonderful time quilting on my Bernina Q20 which stitched like a dream.
Can you see my eyes wide open?
