National Emergency

In the space between these photos, I originally wrote what I hoped was a cross between a lyrical essay and a political rant ala Bill Maher style.

While the words I wrote were from the heart there was also a bit of hurt in them.

As a quilt teacher and semi-public person in the world of quilting--many people in our bubble know me. I want to be a light not a torch.

So I have decided to take those words down. I view our current political situation with a lot of sadness. Our country is divided and our current president's actions deepen that divide.

I created this quilt--Colors Unfurled aka If Betsy Ross had My Stash--as a celebration of Barrack Obama becoming the Democratic candidate for presidency in 2008.

I very much wanted to celebrate our diversity. Straight--gay. Liberal-conservative. Christian--Buddhist. Black-White. And everything in between. We are all Americans.

I miss President Obama. He wasn't perfect, but he tried very hard to bring us together.
