International Handcraft
The Silk Road wound across the Middle East, India, China and Korea. It brought craft techniques that evolved into the unique crafts of Japan.
I always seek out simple crafts during my own travels. It is a pleasure to buy souvenirs from each country and they help me keep memories of France, Turkey, Italy, America, Vietnam, Korea and Thailand.
The crafts of the world share many things in common. They are often handmade by women and use colorful cloths, yarns and beads. They are exciting to many women and show that people are connected. These simple crafts express happy feelings even without using words.
This quilt is an image of women in various countries supporting the earth around the core of the crafts.
